About ISV

International Student Volunteers, Inc

International Student Volunteers is an organization who works with universities and colleges in the Americas, the United Kingdom and other countries to find students willing to do non-profit work in developing countries with environmental obstacles to overcome. These countries include Ecuador, Thailand, Croatia, Costa Rica, and The Dominican Republic. There are also students who travel to Australia and New Zealand to help with reforestation. The work these students do falls into one of two categories. Some people work with local communities to educate the youth on the importance of ecological balance, help build community centers, or in general, work centered around helping the locals. Others spend their two weeks working on reforestation, aiding populations of local fauna, soil management, or in general, environmental projects.

After those two weeks are up, students get to enjoy two weeks of recreation in their host country. This can be anything from mountain climbing to cave diving to whitewater rafting. Meghan and I, however, will only be there for the first two weeks to do work and are then heading back to Michigan, since we can't spare a second two weeks.
